Obtaining Code 95 indication
If you want to become a professional driver, in most cases you need to obtain Code 95. But what exactly is Code 95 and what does this continuing education involve? Van der Meer Heavy Transport Academy explains it to you.
What is Code 95?
ou might be wondering when Code 95 is required. As a professional driver, you need to have Code 95 on your driver’s license throughout the EU in order to drive professionally. Code 95 is an annotation you receive when you obtain your truck or bus license and is valid for five years.
Renew Code 95
Before those first five years are up, you must renew Code 95 in order to keep driving a truck or bus for work. This can be done by taking a Code 95 refresher course at Van der Meer Heavy Transport Academy. This refresher course totals 35 hours and consists of four theoretical modules (28 hours) and one practical module (7 hours).
You can distribute these 35 hours freely over the five-year renewal period. Once you’ve completed the refresher course, Code 95 becomes valid for another five years, after which it will need to be renewed again.
Code 95 for Trucks
Do you need Code 95 for a truck driving license? If you want to drive a truck professionally, yes. However, it is also possible to renew a C license without Code 95. This is only allowed for private use or for drivers who are exempt. In that case, only two theoretical exam components are required instead of five.
